The Mystique of a “Wipe-Out” – Foundation of an Oil Portrait with Holly White-Gehrt, FREE Demos, August 18th, 2013
The Mystique of a “Wipe-Out” Foundation of an Oil Portrait
Holly White-Gehrt Sunday, August 18th, 2013 12 pm and 2 pm Free
Part two of a series of four on the Atelier Method of Portrait Painting It has been said of this stage that “your painting will never look this good again.” The “wipe-out” is a method used to establish value range (dark to light) as a first layer in a painting. It’s a fun technique yielding immediate satisfaction! Holly will show you how to transfer a drawing (cartoon) to canvas and, working from the live model, begin a portrait painting using the wipe-out technique. Holly will use oil paint, but this technique can be used in slow-drying acrylic, or even in charcoal or graphite.
