Painting “Finally Spring” with passion and personal interpretation in Sumi style. Yuming Zhu will show his interpretation of sumi brush strokes, traditional and contemporary technique to capture the essence of fresh color of our State flower and other Spring blooming such as magnolias and rhodies. In this workshop, you will also learn to paint swallows flying through dancing willow. Participants will be encouraged to further discuss the composition in traditional oriental painting. Knowledge of Sumi materials and usage of artist chops will be shared in this workshop.

About the Artist

Yuming Zhu is a very passionate and well-known artist in the Great Seattle area. Sumi/Chinese Watercolor, Oil and Pastel are the mediums Yuming loves to express himself with. He participated in the “Five Thoughts of Asian Art” program that was offered through the Seattle Art Museum and KCTS Channel 9.
He continues teaching sumi painting and calligraphy at community colleges, art centers at the Greater Seattle area. Yuming also teaches Sumi through National and regional Sumi Associations, such as chapters of American Sumi-e Society, Puget Sound Sumi association, NW Art Museum and etc. He shows his artworks at galleries in Washington, Oregon and China.
