Explore mixing and layering illuminating colors that mingle serendipitously, then pushing your piece further by adding the sparkle of metallic watercolors. Students will also learn how to layer opaque pigments for that extra element of "daring and fun" ending the class with the completion of two paintings. Open to all levels.

Painting Horses in Watercolor with Ann Breckon: FREE Art Demo at DANIEL SMITH Art Supplies
This Saturday, April 10th, the Bellevue DANIEL SMITH Art Supply Store has a FREE Art demonstration with Watercolor Artist Ann Breckon: Painting Horses in Watercolor.
Ann will be "showing how to create a realistic version of a horse, starting with an underpainting of light colors and then layering up increasing value and detail to finish." For an example of what Ann will be demonstrating, you can see some of the techniques in her "Puppy Pile" watercolor. In that painting you will "see an example of the shading that shows the three-dimensional contouring used to bring the animals to life."
"Many a landscape painting can be enhanced by the addition of animals. They show scale, add interest, direct the eye through the painting, and add a living element. The skills shown that result in a horse can also be transferred to any furry creature you might like to learn to paint."
For the demo Ann will be using DANIEL SMITH Watercolors in: Quinacridone Burnt Scarlet, Burnt Sienna, French Ultramarine, Raw Sienna with Black Gold Wateroclor (round) brushes in size 12 and larger, and Sumi Hake brush on Arches Watercolor Paper - 140 lb. cold press.
